Pharmaceuticals made up 5.1 percent
of Israel's total exports in 2005, up
from 1.7 percent in 2000, the Central
Bureau of Statistics reported today.
Agricultural exports to the EU accounted
for 77 percent of total agricultural
exports. High-tech exports, including
electronic components and electronic
communications equipment, have been
falling as a proportion of exports
to most countries, but remain a large
proportion of total exports.
Exports of goods rose 36 percent
in 2000-05. The largest export sectors
in 2005 were diamonds -- $12.1 billion;
chemicals -- $6.8 billion; aggregate
industrial, scientific and medical
equipment -- $3.2 billion.
